Hypnotherapy for Anxiety and Phobias
Hypnotherapy is known to produce very good results in combating anxiety and phobias. Advanced Structured Hypnotherapy, which I practice, allows me to get to the original psychological cause of the problem and solve it at the source.
Hypnotherapy is carried out in a state of deep and profound relaxation which allows the hypnotherapist to reach, otherwise inaccessible, levels of subconsciousness. Scientifically proven to combat stress, hypnotherapy will also have a calming and relaxing effect on the patient, further helping them recover.
Everybody feels anxious from time to time and we all fear something bad happening to us or to our loved ones. Anxiety and phobias, however, differ considerably from simple fear and can, in some cases, completely paralyse a persons life.
While fear is usually triggered by something specific – a man following you in a dark alley, for example – the word anxiety usually describes an overwhelming feeling of fear, uneasiness or dread without an obvious cause.
Anxiety can manifest itself by a lingering feeling of approaching doom or in recurring panic attacks.
Panic attacks are sudden outbursts of fear. People who experience panic attacks for the first time often are convinced they are having a heart attack or a nervous breakdown, but when they rush to hospital, they find out that they are in sound health. A typical panic attack is likely to be over within 30 minutes.
A common form of anxiety disorders are phobias. A phobia is an irrational and persistent fear that is triggered by a specific object, animal, or situation. People suffering from phobias go to extreme lengths to avoid coming in contact with the triggers of their phobia, in many cases becoming prisoners of their own, irrational, fear.
Specific phobias (often called ‘simple phobias’) are triggered by specific objects, animals, situations or people. Examples of specific phobias would be:
- fear of spiders, snakes, birds, cats, etc.
- fear of objects such as buttons, teabags, etc.
- fear of people such as clowns, dentists, etc.
- fear of situations such as flying or enclosed spaces.
Complex phobias can be more disabling for sufferrers because they extend to many different situations and environments. The two most common complex phobias are:
- agoraphobia – fear of open spaces
- social phobia – fear of other people and social situations
Structured Advanced Hypnotherapy is used to successfully treat all forms of anxiety disorders, including panic attacks and phobias – both simple and complex. This type of hypnotherapy allows the patient to completely and permanently rid themselves of the disorder they’re suffering from.
The treatment requires up to 6 hypnotherapy sessions – depending on the severity of the problem.
